The Pasco branch of the Regional Service Corps – AmeriCorps – is set to receive $275,000 of a multimillion dollar grant to help educate children. Senators Patty Murray (D-WA) and Maria Cantwell (D-WA) announced Thursday that Washington state will receive $24.6 million in AmeriCorps funding from the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the federal agency for volunteering and service. According to a press release from Senator Murray’s office, the investments will help tackle problems in Washington, including mentoring and tutoring for at-risk youth, assisting disaster response, preserving the environment, and supporting veterans and military families.
